LDK completes environmental project in Turkey
The project assigned to LDK regarding the provision of technical assistance for the preparation of the tender dossier for the closedown and rehabilitation of old dump sites in Bitlis area of Turkey, is reaching its completion phase. The project is funded by EUROPAID in the framework of Lot 6 Environment.
The project regards the preparation of the design documentation, including detailed drawings, bill of quantities, technical specifications and full tender dossier for the construction of the closure and rehabilitation of old dumpsites. The project is being realized within the content of the Bitlis Regional Solid Waste Management project and addresses three dumpsites in the greater area. LDK experts repeatedly visited Bitlis, situated in Eastern Turkey close to the Iranian borderline, so as to examine the state of the dumpsites in situ and collect data, as well as to consult with the central agencies in Ankara in order to cooperate with the local partners and the competent authorities (CFCU Turkey, European Commission Delegation, Ministry of Environment and Forests, qualified municipalities).
Furthermore, the designs, technical specifications and tender documents of the dumpsites in the areas of Amasya and Kütahya are being prepared by partner working groups at the same time, to be merged with the LDK project, so as to present a single tender dossier including all three lots for Amasya, Bitlis and Kütahya.
Services provided by LDK include the evaluation of the current state of the dumpsite, the environmental impact assessment, the assessment requirements for the closure and rehabilitation, the design of rehabilitation measures, the cost estimations (including comparative analysis with the costs for transporting waste to a new landfill), the preparation of tender documentation and the provision of assistance to the beneficiary or coordinating authority for clarification issues on the tender.
