Scottish agricultural college achieve carbon masters standard
Source: Carbon Masters
Carbon Masters are delighted to announce that the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC), which is now part of SRUC, has become the first college in the UK to successfully achieve the Carbon Masters Standard. SAC have achieved Tier 1 of the Carbon Masters Standard, with an impressive 17% reduction in carbon emissions achieved over the last 4 years. SAC have implemented a range of behaviour change and energy efficiency initiatives to measure and minimise emissions from their buildings, vehicles, business travel, waste and water. Kevin Houston formally presented SAC´s award to Andrew Drysdale, Strategic Planning & Environment Manager at SAC, in a low key award ceremony earlier this week.
Chief Executive and Principal, Professor Bob Webb said: “SAC has been committed to sustainable development and climate change for many years through our research work, degree programmes, training courses and consulting work. In the background we have been working hard to minimise our own environmental footprint - to be as sustainable as we can. Achieving the Carbon Masters Standard is a fantastic achievement and underlines our determination to play a key role in delivering the Scottish Government’s carbon reduction targets and to help rural businesses and communities to thrive”
