Friends and colleagues of The Groundwater Foundation will gather for the “Celebrate!” dinner at The Lodge at wilderness Ridge Golf Course on Thursday, June 19, 2008 to celebrate and recognize Susan Seacrest’s 24 years of dedication to the Foundation. We will be celebrating the past successes of the Groundwater Foundation, our work to make our community and nation a greener world, and the future goal of clean, safe groundwater for generations to come

As the founder and first president of the Groundwater Foundation, Susan gave her time and energy to implement the mission of the Foundation: to educate people about and how to care for groundwater. In addition to this and her countless achievements for the Foundation, she also has provided for the continuation of these commendable efforts by donating $125,000, the prize money she was awarded as recipient of the 2007 Heinz Award for the environment.

This night of celebration will also be the launch of a new fund-raising campaign inspired by Susan, entitled “Match Susan’s Gift.” The goal of this campaign is to raise $125,000 and in doing so demonstrate our sincere appreciation for Susan and her mission. Events at “Celebrate!” include a welcome by Groundwater Foundation Board Chair Don Kraus, an invocation by Otis Young, the awarding of Groundwater Foundation President Emeritus to Susan Seacrest, live music by the Requisite Jazz Combo, and a speech by current Groundwater Foundation President Jane Griffin that will look toward the future of the Foundation.

Sponsors for the event include: Bob Stephens and Associates; Central Nebraska Public Power & Irrigation; CH2M Hill; Cooper Foundation; Coors Brewing Co.; Eagle Printing; Groundwater Foundation Board of Directors; Husch, Blackwell, Sanders, LLP;; Landscapes Unlimited; Lindsay Irrigation; Nebraska Farm Bureau; Nebraska Game and Parks Commission; Nebraska’s Natural Resources Districts; Nebraska Public Power District; Nebraska Well Drillers Association; Nelnet; Olsson Associates; Lee and Rita Orton; Speedway Motors; T-L Irrigation; Valmont Industries, Inc.; Wayne Madsen Memorials; W.K.
