The new WET (Water Efficient Technology) Centre, based at NIAB EMR in East Malling, Kent, will be officially launched at Fruit Focus 2017 on the 19th July 2017.

The Centre is being developed by NIAB EMR alongside the project’s commercial partners; Delta-T Devices, Berry Gardens Growers, Netafim UK, New Leaf Irrigation and CocoGreen, with further strategic support from Meiosis, Kent County Council and LEAF.

The WET Centre houses an integrated portfolio of cutting edge growing techniques and trickle irrigation systems for the soft fruit sector. The centre provides commercial scale demonstrations, 1:1 expert technical advice, and training workshops – showcasing solutions to improve water use efficiency, reduce costs and achieve industry leading yields and financial returns.

The WET Centre gives visitors a chance to see live operation of the new Precision Irrigation Package, provided by Delta-T Devices and Netafim UK.

This powerful system, available through Netafim UK’s main dealer network, includes Delta-T Devices’s SM150T Moisture and Temperature Sensor alongside their advanced GP2 Data Logger and Controller. Data can be remotely monitored and shared on mobile or desktop devices via Delta T’s online DeltaLINK-Cloud service. The package comes complete with hardware, installation and training. Ongoing on-farm support is available as an option.

The WET Centre will initially focus on soft fruit, but will expand to include tree fruit and salad crops, featuring additional state-of-the-art technologies designed to achieve improved sustainability and profitability for these sectors.
