Zimmerli: Minnesota Farmers Markets are OPEN!!
Source: Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota
- By: Dan ZimmerliFarms, farm workers, and farmers markets are all essential businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. That means your favorite market is most likely still open and its farmers and vendors are eager to see and serve you.
Markets will look a little different this summer and each vendor and market are doing things differently. Some markets have drive-through service while others are only doing online ordering. Some have a hybrid model of open as usual while their vendors offer some online ordering. The best place to get information is your farmers market’s website or social media.
At our Mankato market we are open as usual with a few changes to help keep everyone safe. We’ve installed handwashing stations across our market, most vendors are wearing facemasks or have clear plastic shields set up, hand sanitizer is widely available, and many vendors, us included, are offering pre-order and pickup at the market which allows you to order online and quickly pick up at the market and be on your way.
So head out to your local market and support your local farmers, producers, crafters, and bakers, coffee roasters, etc!
