Model 12BC - Bale Trailer

The self-loading Humus bale carrier takes work to a new level. The hydraulic grapple lifts straw, hay or silo bales on the trailer during the drive, so that the tractor does not need to stop. The operator does not need to perform complicated maneuvers and there is also no need for a frontal loader. This solution helps to save time and fuel and is up to 6 times more efficient compared to traditional methods and a platform trailer.

EXPERIENCE

The bale trailer has undergone successful tests and proven its efficiency and reliability with several farmers. A skilled operator only needs 10-12 minutes to load a full load of 20 bales. The Humus bale trailer has turned transporting bales into a one-man task, at the same time ensuring maximum speed and efficient work. Test results have shown that the Humus bale carrier allows to harvest up to 400 bales per day with one tractor.

EFFECTIVITY

During the testing period, another company happened to be working alongside Humus on the next field over, using three tractors. One tractor was driving the platform trailer, the other was bringing bales together and the third was loading the platform. At the same time, Humus was using one tractor with the Humus hay bale tractor, who did all of these works. On the next field over, 30 bales were harvested with three tractors while 60 bales were harvested with the Humus bale trailer and one tractor, hence the nearly 6-time difference in effectiveness.

DESIGN

The design and functionality of the product has been improved since 2011. The Humus bale carrier has been improved with strength calculations, for production and environmental friendliness as well as the construction of various joints. The entire product development is focused on the trailer being as ergonomic and effective as possible in performing its functions. In 2014, the Humus bale trailer was the highlight at the Maamess fair in Tartu.

BALE GRAPPLE

The grapple on the side can be used to lift bales onto the trailer without stopping. Bales can be approached from along as well as across the field to lift them. This means that work can be done in the same direction as the harvester or bale press moves on the field. The grapple of the Humus trailer is designed to adjust bales for loading, so that work can be done along the field, therefore ensuring a smoother ride.

WHEELS

The hay bale trailer uses 520/50-17 tires as standard equipment. You can choose between various tire sizes, types and patterns. The selection includes diagonal and radial tires, wherein the latter ensure a much smoother ride. A flotation tire pattern has the property of cleaning itself from mud collected on the field, so that roads stay clean when driving from the field onto the road.

REQUIREMENTS FOR TRACTOR

Generally accepted practices prescribe that the tractor should have approx. 10 hp per cargo ton. Due to this, the tractor capacity needed for transporting straw and hay bales is nearly 130 hp. A tractor with the capacity of 180 hp suits best for transporting silage bales. The tractor should have at least 4 hydraulics outputs for effective use of the hay bale trailer, but if there are not so many, an electric valve can also be installed on the trailer which enables complete use of the trailer.

THE ENVIRONMENT

Thanks to the self-loading system, loading and unloading hay bales takes significantly less time. Less time spent means that resource freed up thanks to the Humus hay bale trailer can be used for other important works during the busy harvesting season. The decreased fuel consumption and work hours of the tractor help preserve our nature.

We use only certified and quality steel in making the Humus trailers, in order to ensure their long life. The production of all Humus products, including the hay bale trailer, is guided by leaving a carbon footprint as optimally as possible.
