Maintaining the proper level of oxygen dispersion in your aquaculture ponds is critical to the success of your operation. Poor dissolved oxygen levels, fluctuating water temperatures, and stratification can all negatively affect fish health and pond production. The Aire-O2 Series II Aspirator Aerator operates by creating a partial vacuum under the water, drawing air through the shaft and dispersing it into the water in a horizontal direction. As the propeller rotates, it induces a flow of atmospheric air through the air intake ports on the shaft located above the water surface. This air is then drawn through the shaft, past the propeller, and exits in a high velocity stream of fine bubbles as it is diffused into the water.

  • Produces fine bubble aeration as defined by the EPA (less than 2.2 mm in size) that insures optimum oxygen transfer efficiency
  • Distributes and uniformly mixes oxygen throughout your entire pond
  • Ideal for zero exchange systems
  • Reduce disease and mortality rates
  • Increase stocking densities, yields and profits
  • Premium high quality USA motor with specifications designed for tough environments, not plagued with problems inherent to failure ridden gear box design
  • Surface-mounted motor designed for years of trouble-free operation, not susceptible to the hazards and failures of subsurface motor types
  • New one piece unifloat insures ease of installation
  • Combined propeller/diffuser
  • Water lubricated bearing, no risk of pond contamination
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Durable flotation built to withstand harsh conditions
  • Almost maintenance-free due to design ingenuity of only one moving part
  • Made and assembled in the USA

Our equipment supports ponds by providing oxygen and mixing to disperse oxygen throughout the pond.

We understand that the life of your harvest is dependent on the quality of your pond. The Aire-O2 Series II Aspirator Aerator is a propeller-type floating aerator. The aerator’s propeller injects air in a high velocity stream of bubbles defined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as “fine bubble.” The air is injected below the surface of the water and provides high velocity horizontal mixing to disperse oxygen throughout the pond.

The most important element when selecting an aerator for aquaculture usage, regardless of the application, is oxygen dispersion. Oxygen dispersion involves both thorough subsurface circulation and oxygenation, to create a destratified pond environment where temperature and oxygen levels are uniform throughout the entire pond. This concept is of the utmost importance to all aquatic species as it fosters a healthier environment that will lead to increased size, increased survival, and thus increased profit to the aquaculturist. Since species like shrimp are bottom dwellers, it is critical to have the oxygen distributed to the bottom layer of the pond where these species live and thrive. Also, thorough mixing and distribution of oxygen aids in the control of animal and feed wastes, keeping pond bottoms cleaner and decreasing risk of disease.  The Series II is the most technologically advanced aerator in the marketplace today. Its superior design allows for both mixing and oxygenation in one single unit.

The Importance of Fine Bubbles

Aeration Industries International has spent over $1 million USD on the design and production of the propellers of its Aire-O2 aerators. The result of this investment is that the Aire-O2 Aerator is the only aerator in the industry certified by the US EPA as a “fine bubble aerator.” This designation means that the average bubble size emitted from the Series II is less than 2.2 mm in size which is critical to both oxygen dispersion and oxygen transfer. The smaller the bubble from an aerator, the longer this bubble stays in the water.  And the longer the bubble can stay in the water, the greater the opportunity this bubble has to become dissolved oxygen or DO.

Proof Is in the Mixing!

The importance of oxygen dispersion and mixing is evident from a Dye Test conducted at Auburn University. A 2hp Aire-O2 aerator was placed into a one acre pond. After just 32 minutes, the entire pond was completely mixed and circulated.  Meanwhile, a competitive 3hp surface splasher aerator  showed only local oxygenation and poor mixing after 80 minutes.

Multiple Angles of Entry

The Series II can be adjusted from 30 degrees to 60 degrees for optimal mixing, oxygen dispersion, and destratification and is suitable for all species and pond depths. The photos below show the operation of a 2hp aerator at various angles of entry.

Simplicity of Design = Low Maintenance

Most aquaculture applications require aeration during the night, as DO levels are significantly lower from the daytime levels (due to photosynthesis gains from sunlight). Imagine being able to sleep easy knowing that your aeration system will make it through the night without any emergencies! Due to its very simple design, the Series II is regarded as the industry workhorse in terms of its reliability, durability, and toughness. These unique features of the Series II include:

  • Only One Moving Part — A drive shaft connected to the motor shaft
  • Water Lubricated Bearing — No artificial lubrication necessary
  • No Gearbox
  • Total of six (6) parts
  • Above surface premium made USA motor made for tough environments

Available Options:
Propeller Protection Guard  for 2hp, 3hp, 5 hp and 7.5 hp (aerator horsepower) units in any global voltage and hertz size.  Electrical cable: SEOOW weather, UV and abrasive resistant.

With proper use, installation, and maintenance, Aeration Industries International warrants that it will, at its option, repair or replace goods found to be defective in material or workmanship provided that within eighteen [18] months of shipment, or twelve [12] months from date of installation, whichever occurs first. The purchaser gives written notice of such defect to the manufacturer at the point of origin, with transportation charges prepaid by the purchaser. If an examination by the manufacturer discloses to its satisfaction the existence of such a defect, the manufacturer will honor this warranty. In no event shall the manufacturer be liable for any incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from said defects. The customer is responsible for electrical installation and meeting the minimum standards of the USNEC, and compliance with local electrical codes.
