Arcadia - Drought Tolerance
The global occurrence of drought is predicted to increase, affecting food security and sustainability of water resources. In our global economy, a drought in Australia, South America or the United States can cause food insecurity and increases in food prices around the world. Our ability to maintain production despite changes in rainfall patterns and periods of drought is critical to feeding growing populations in the face of climate change.
The Drought Tolerance (DT) trait has demonstrated improved crop yield in areas of low water availability and reduced crop yields. DT technology will provide farmers the option of maintaining production in high water stress areas.
