Sonova - Model GLA - Safflower Oil
From Nutritional Oils
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is an omega-6 fatty acid found in only a handful of plant-based oils such as borage, evening primrose, and black currant oil. Because of low concentrations of GLA in these sources, as well as inconsistent supply, we developed safflower plant varieties high in GLA. In 2012 we launched SONOVA GLA Safflower Oil to give consumers a new source for GLA – one that enables them to get the benefits of GLA by taking fewer capsules than other sources.

Arcadia’s Solution
Arcadia’s Salinity Tolerance (ST) trait enables plants to produce normal yields under highly saline conditions. In addition to their improved agronomic performance, these ST plants bind excess salt from soil and help restore salinized land over time. Arcadia and its partners have applied the trait to a wide range of crops, including wheat, rice, corn, soybeans and oilseeds.
