Camelina presents a unique opportunity for providing a reliable, inexpensive feedstock for biodiesel production. It is a plant well suited for the more arid regions of the world and requires low inputs (water, fertilizer, pesticide), both attributes which enable it to be a low-cost, high margin alternative crop. It can be planted behind wheat and on marginal land; it does not compete with other crops and will be an excellent rotational crop.
