A combination of wood chips, chippings and bark that whirl around, hydraulic oil, fuel and high temperatures constitute a high fire risk area in the engine compartment in a forest machine. The fire’s course of event can be very fast and it can be very difficult to suppress with only a hand fire extinguisher. As the forest machines often work in distant areas the fire’s course of events is highly dependent on the machine’s and the operator’s fire suppression capacity. The consequence of a fire in a forest machine is at best a production stop. In the worst case scenario, the whole forest burns down.
Fogmaker high pressure water mist is very efficient for extinguishing fires in engine compartments.
Water mist gives an immediate choking and quickly cooling effect. Unique for the water mist is the fact that it fills the entire engine compartment and access fire beds outside the direct spreading area of the nozzles. The water mist’s ability to quickly extinguish the fire limits the amount of damage in the engine compartment.
With our hydro pneumatic fire detection the suppression system works with the same effect even when the electricity supply is disconnected. The system is also position independent (if the forest machine is laying on the side or up-side-down).
The fire reigniting is prevented by the adding of a small amount of foam to the water mist which lies like a choking blanket over the entire motor compartment. The extinguishing fluid that is generated from the water mist is environment friendly and it is easy to wash away.
Re-setting a released suppression system is often simpler, easier, faster and much cheaper compared with powder or foam suppression systems. Normally our service organization guarantee a complete re-set within 24 hours.
Fogmaker suppression system is normally installed in less than one working day. The installation is carried out by our own travelling service technicians or by one of our many certified installers that are available all over the world. Find your closest installer under the tab Distributors.
Once a year the fire suppression system should be inspected and the functions tested by a certified installer. Normally, this does not take more than an hour.
Every five years the suppression system should undergo a revision where the suppression fluids also are exchanged.
The total life span cost of Fogmaker suppression systems is low compared with competing systems.
Our system is very reliable and adapted for demanding environments. A large service network guarantees fast actions.
