Industrial Plankton - Model PBR 100L - Research Algae Photobioreactor
From Turn-Key Photobioreactors for On-Site Algae Production
The PBR 100L Research Algae PhotoBioreactor is a bioreactor tank designed for researchers who need a meaningful volume of algae to feed aquaculture animals such as shellfish or shrimp, and for greenwater or zooplankton feed production. The lab scale bioreactor system is also ideal for biotech researchers testing algae for cell culture or in applications such as biofuels, and production of omega-3’s, carotenoids, etc. Biosecure algae is easy to culture, with the closed tank design and clean-in-place (CIP) system. Automation, a sealed environment, data logging, real-time graphing, and easily adjustable parameters make this reactor ideal for research applications.

How it Works
Inoculation
Biosecure disconnects make inoculation from starter algae culture (2L) simple & clean.
Scale Up
The PBR automatically adds water & nutrients as it scales up the culture over 7-10 days.
Harvest
The PBR automatically harvests in continuous or semi-continuous mode for months at a time. At any point the entire batch can be harvested.
Clean
Between batches run the automated chemical CIP cycle to clean & sterilize the PBR. After a few hours the reactor is ready to be re-inoculated.
Algae Production
Continuous Production
- 20 - 40L harvested / day
- 25 - 33g dry weight produced/day
- 0.9g / L algal dry weight density
Production may vary based on quality of strain & inoculum
