AVR Multivator - Soil Cultivators
From Soil Cultivators
When cultivating potatoes, the preparation of the seed bed is crucial. A good soil structure ensures a good water management and temperature in the ridge, which in turn have a positive influence on the tuber setting and prevent tuber deformation. Also important: an optimal crumbling while planting is the first step towards a successful harvesting season; in comes the AVR Multivator! TIP: By creating small ridges in front of the tractor and installing subsoiler wheels on the tractor, it is possible to plant in non cultivated soil at the rear.

Perfect seed bed
The Multivator was designed as a replacement for the power harrow for potato planting. The advantages of the front cultivator are quite clear:
- Uniform crumbling (100 hook tines): no dust, no clods.
- No chance of smearing underneath the ridges, making it possible to plant earlier in the season.
- A higher capacity with a lower fuel consumption.
By creating small ridges in front of the tractor and installing subsoiler wheels on the tractor, it is possible to plant in noncultivated soil at the rear.
n the first place to take over the role of the rotary harrow in the frontal assembly at the time of the soil preparation. The principal disadvantage of the rotary harrow is that a large volume of clods remains in the ridges realized at the time of the plantation. Thanks to the Multivator, the ground is initially cultivated and is then directly concentrated in ridges. Then, with the planting machine behind the tractor, the seed-potatoes are deposited in these ridges. The planting bed is not crushed anymore.
The Latest development: the Compact-3
The Multivator is in this case built at the back of the tractor. This is a Multivator with a build-on Hassia planting machine. The ridge former of the Multivator is replaced by a furrow opener that makes plant furrows. Behind the planter is the ridging hood. The result is in one work passage seed bed preparation, planting and ridging. This is possible with a tractor with large tyres, without needing a frontlift.

Strengths information
- Uniform crumbling (100 hook tines): no dust, no clods.
- Early planting: no chance of smearing underneath the ridges, making it possible to plant earlier in the season.
- High capacity: field tests have shown that the Multivator allows for a higher yield (up to 20%), a larger number of tubers and a more uniform size of the harvested product.
- Lower fuel consumption: work deeper using less power when compared to a power harrow. The 3 speed gear-box allows to adapt to the field conditions.
- Lower maximum required power: the hook tines are mounted in helix shape so their impact is continuous at all times, avoiding any peak loads.
- Healthy potatoes: thanks to the high amount of loose soil, you create the perfect internal ridge height.
- No caking on the cover: the cover is mounted using ten springs, making it move continuously.
- Flexible: the three point hitch can easily be adjusted, so the machine can be used at the front and back of the tractor
The MULTIVATOR has 100 tines (comparison: row cultivator ca. 75, full-width cultivator ca. 135). These hooks are similar to those used by the AVR rotary cultivators. They are positioned like that to get as little puddling as possible. This is important since the soil is often humid. For an optimal adaptation capacity to soil conditions, the MULTIVATOR can be provided with a 3V gear box. The Multivator causes up to 50% less puddling of the ground than a rotary harrow. The Multivator can be coupled as well in front mounting as in the back. Then it can be used as a seedbed preparation tool. From where its name MULTIVATOR.
