Panther - 2-Axle Beet Harvester
ROPA Panther with R-Concept and fully automatic wheel load and slope compensation with roll stabilization. ROPA provides its new 2-axle harvester with „extremely huge paws“, automatic wheel load and slope compensation with roll stabilization, super long unloading elevator and many other innovations. A new operation concept R-Concept in the newly designed R-Cab sets new standards for self-propelled harvesting technic.
Sittelsdorf/Hannover. After 20 years of absence ROPA is back in serial production of 2-axle sugar beet harvester. The new 2-axle is named Panther and joins the family of felines. Numerous new developments of ROPA Panther have resulted in a better yield and higher daily performance in efficient and soil-protective sugar beet harvesting. Well-proven features of the euro-Tiger V8-4 and the euro-Maus 4 are combined in ROPA Panther together with the latest technical innovations.
New Michelin tyres on ROPA newly developed 2-axle look enormously large and imposing. Good soil protection is maintained by the new 800/70 R38 Ultraflex tyres at the front and 900/60 R38 Ultraflex at the rear axle which require only 2 bar air pressure at full bunker load. The soil is protected and damping characteristics are improved at the same time. The diameter of the tyres is 2,050 mm which means large contact area, a big advantage under wet harvesting conditions.
Anti Shake and Balance System – roll stabilization with fully automatic wheel load and slope compensation
Specially for the sugar beet harvester of Panther type ROPA has developed a new chassis design with 2 swing axles in connection with 4 stabilization cylinders. Compared with the previous chassis of the 2-axle sugar beet harvester, this reduces the sway of machine by 50 per cent. It is caused by hydraulic connection of stabilization cylinders at the front and rear axles of the one side, so that the ground unevenness at the wheel in level difference affects the frame only to 50 per cent. Thanks to the reduction of the chassis swing, the row and depth control is improved simultaneously, as the frame is averaged to the position of the both axles.
Unique among beet harvesters is the automatic leveling system using four hydraulic cylinders and sensors. The entire vehicle is inclined to the slope and thus held horizontally, the lifting unit runs itself by scanning the soil surface. The slope stability is improved. Even in extreme situations, Panther itself keeps stable where others harvesters would tip over. Furthermore, driving comfort increases as the driver remains in an upright seating position, and doesn’t risk to slip out of the seat.
The power transfer in euro-Panther of 530 PS/390 KW (Mercedes Benz 6-cylinder with AdBlue and SCR-KAT euro-Mot 4) became even more efficient through reduced fuel consumption. A higher maximum torque of no less than 2,450 Nm is efficiently transmitted via a new Rexroth traction drive by the linear guide of the drive shafts to the two portal axles. Large gear-planets transfer high torque to the huge wheels. Harvesting speed is up to 15 km/h, on roads even 32 km/h.
Automatic folding for fully automatic changeover from road drive to lifting mode
A button touch is enough to „transform“ automatically ROPA euro-Panther from the road drive mode to the field mode, unloading elevator, 1m wide ring elevator, bunker auger and other groups fold one by one and partially simultaneously. The sensor-controlled monitoring systems exclude operating errors and collisions. The entire folding process is performed by simultaneous activation of all functions to 50 % faster than before.
Super long unloading elevator for quick bunker unloading
Great is also the new unloading elevator, located between the two axles, just after the articulation of the frame. It is 3-way foldable and 1400 mm wide for even simpler application of 10-meter-wide piles or easy overloading on trailer. The belt with 150 mm long fingers guarantees high feeding capacity at short unloading time. The automatic bunker filling allows optimum traction under all harvest conditions by excellent weight distribution. Two ultrasound sensors measure the bunker filling, sum up the bunker charges, and save it in the impact database.
Highlight!! – New cabin and operating concept of sugar beet harvester ROPA Panther
The newly designed and considerably better mounted R-Cab cabin ensures an optimized view of the lifting unit whilst maintaining a physiologically adapted and comfortable seating position. A pleasant and gorgeous interior of the new cabin in combination with excellent sound insulation guarantee most comfortable operation. Extremely powerful fully LED working lights turn night into day.
ROPA combines under the term R-Concept its new intuitive operating philosophy. A large 12.1 inch touch screen performs as the information and command center of the machine. From here the operator monitors the entire machine, receives information about operating conditions and performance data, adjusts functions and, thus, working results of the machine. The operation is performed dually, either with finger touch on the touch screen or with turning and pressing the rotate buttons „R-Select“ and „R-Direkt“, which are situated in the ergonomically perfect position at the newly designed control panel und the handle of the multifunctional joystick (with integrated mini joystick). The operator’s place in the new „R-Cab“ suggests numerous possible adjustments for the ergonomic and comfortable seating position and at the same time increased visibility and heating of comfortable air seat. A premium class workplace!
The latest machine software with numerous automatic monitoring parameters ensures additional relief during work. The machine software can back up and transfer its settings enabling the operator to securely store his settings (harvesting/cleaning settings and even air-conditioning) on the USB stick. The next operator simply inserts his USB stick in the control panel and takes over the last settings. Therefore no operator loses time in re-setting the machine and so improves his performance in the field.
A newly integrated intelligent three-point suspension allows even finer control of maintaining an optimum harvesting depth which results further in more efficient harvesting at reduced losses.
In summary, new developments of the Panther increase the daily output at reduced operating costs whilst simplifying maintenance and repair. The operator experiences an improved driving comfort during efficient and soil-protective harvesting of sugar beet.
