Precise - Propellant Stimulator
Dale Seekford is proud to announce his new propellant technology. This new propellant technology addresses the issues raised about random ignition, a predictable event, and compatibility with well bore fluids. This new technology is unique in that the surface area ignited on the propellant can be varied to allow for the correct amount of gas to be released as needed per the formation characteristics. Dale Seekford, developer and patent owner of the propellant technology, worked on propellant treatments from the Gulf of Mexico to the North Slope of Alaska designing treatments. The knowledge gained over this time exposed several faults in the propellants used today, fluids dissolving the propellant, fluids causing the flame spread to be unpredictable, and random ignition without repeatability and predictability. The propellant we use and the configuration addresses and eliminates these issues.
Product Details
Propellants or a form of propellant has been used for many years to “shake up” the formation. Most of these methods have had some degree of success but at times have undesirable side effects due to random ignition. Propellant ignition systems for the most part, if not all, rely on an explosive event to ignite the propellant. The majority of these have an event time of less than 20 milliseconds. The supersonic wave and gas created are used to increase wellbore flow area. Because the explosive ignition is not controlled and confined to a specific area to be ignited, or the propellant used is brittle and the material fractures randomly, the ignited area is not controlled.
My method utilizes a very energetic propellant that burns slowly that is ignited on a specific plane. A typical event time as recorded on a high-speed gauge would be between 300-600 milliseconds depending on the criteria of the well and the number of tube splits. As stated in my patent # US7,565,930 B2, I first place a protective moisture barrier on all external surfaces that also acts as a burn inhibitor. This keeps the fluids in the wellbore from leaching into the propellant thus causing a random flame spread. I then place detonating cord inside a stainless steel tube that has one or more grooves along the length of it. The tube is run inside the log of propellant so that when the detonating cord explodes, the energy will split the tube along the grooves. As the energy exits the stainless tubes it is focused in a line inside the propellant log. The hot gas then splits and ignites the propellant along those lines. For instance if the tube had two grooves 180 degrees apart the propellant would be split in half length ways and the ignited area would be on the four surface areas created from the split. If a tube had three grooves at 120 degrees you would end up with three pieces of propellant burning on six surfaces. This method allows for a consistent and controlled treatment of the well.
