Raptor - Model FX85 -Q - Board Scanner
From Scanning
FX85 Board Scanner-Q is the evolution of Raptor's geometric scanning to full surface defect recognition on green or dry lumber. There is no requirement to mask chain ways as the transfer enables the cameras to see the entire board without having to remove images that obstruct.

Product Details
- The system through an arrangement of cameras uses dot lasers as well as tracheid and vision techniques.
- Colour vision enables the system to see a number of defects such as knots, pith, cracks, blue stain, rot and chalk markings.
- When using the tracheid technique, laser light is distorted differently depending on the properties of the wood making it possible to detect defects such as blonde knots.
- The tracheid technique assists in finding differences in the angle of the fibre, which otherwise would be a challenge to detect using only vision.
- LED light built into the camera units is activated only when needed, contributing to an extended life cycle of the elements.
- Laser triangulation combined with Raptor's superior decision logic evaluates shape characteristics such as wane, cup, twist, crook and bow to optimally position the piece prior to reaching the saws.
- System modularity allows the customer to begin with geometric optimization and add vision/tracheid at later date, without changing the hardware.
- Available for Trimming and Edging applications.
