Talleres Aguin - Re-Tubing Machine for Mussel-Loaded-Rope
This re-tubing machine produces up to one metre of mussel-loaded-rope per second and its diametre can be adjusted as required. It has a speed and diametre control, a stopping and starting device and height adjustment. It is powered by two hydraulic motors OMP 50 and OMN 32. Made in stainless steel.

Before starting up the machine, it is important to check that the hoses are correctly connected. Serious damage may be caused to the machine, if the hoses were to be reversed.
The pressure inlet must be connected to the socket (1) which is supplied from the factory with a Jack terminal. The return connection is made to the die socket (1A). Once the hopper (2) is full of mussel and the net is loaded on the corresponding cartridge (3) and the yarn (4) on the bobbin bracket, introduce the used for hangin the rope wich has the tie-rope; the latter will be used for hanginng up the rope. Pass the rope along the rope groove (5) and bring it out through the outlet (6) right up to the knot wich joins the tie-rope and the main rope. The net and the yarn are tied at this point and are now ready to start up the Rope Re-tubing process. Next move the start-up levers (7)&(8) and by pressing the hauler (9) with the hand, the pull on the rope starts going. It would be well advised to carry out a trial on the first rope, in order to regulate the speed and the quantity of mussel being loaded. By turning the controls knobs (10)&(11) clockwise, we increase the speed of the outgoing rope and quantity of mussel loaded.
When preparing a rope, it may be necessary to stop the process for a moment, to put in more mussel. To stop, press the outside lever (7).
On reaching the end of the rope, the machine is stopped by pressing both levers (7) & (8) at the same time.
To identify the end of the rope easily, we recommend a different colour plastic peg be placed in the end position. The last peg is held in place by the hook (12), this allows for an anchoring knot to be made, at the end, before cutting the net and yarn.
FILLING THE NET
The A2 Machine is supplied with two cartridges (3) to hold the net which will cover the mussel to be retubed, and a coned funnel (13) to help load the net onto the cartridges.
CHANGING THE CARTRIDGE
To change the cartridge, first take off the steel-rod nozzle (14) by loosening the wing-nuts (15) holding it in place. Then the fabric girdle (16) is taken off by freeing the cords (17) which hold it down on the hooks (18).
Bringing down the cartridge break-lever (19) the cartridge is freed and it can then be taken out by pulling on it. To fit it up again, just reverse the whole procedure.
The girdle (16) controls the tightness of the outgoing net. By sliding the rubber tube (20) up or down the joined ends of the rubber belting [used as closing system], you can add more or less pressure on the out-going net.
CHANGING THE YARN
To change the yarn bobbin (4), unscrew the nylon cap (21). Make sure of taking off the sleeve (22) and replacing it onto the new bobbin, in the same position as it was before.
Replace the bobbin in such a way that it turns clockwise when pulling on the yarn, when looking at it from the hauler (9) end. If is it mounted the other way, there is a risk that the nylon cap eventually may work itself loose, as the bobbin revolves.
To control the tension on the yarn, tighten or loosen the nuts (23). The yarn should be threaded through the guide-ring (24).
When one re-tubes, applying a total diameter in excess of 15 centimetres, more mussel might find its way above the rope than below it, due to the lack of space allowed by the separator tabs (25), set at the outlet of the rope groove. To ensure a more even spread of the mussel, adjust the position of the separators (26), situated below the tabs.
DISMANTING THE HOPPER
To dismantle the hopper, just loosen the two side couplings (27). To set it back in place, first check on the correct positioning both of the vibrator (28) and the spring (29)
DISMANTING THE AXLE
To dismount the spiral axle (30), first take off the hopper. To get the axle out just pull on it. Never strike the flaps with an implement, otherwise the axle could be deformed. If it has to be tapped to get the axle out, do so only on its core, by introducing a rod along the gap between the motor OMP 50 (31) and the housing.
DISMANTING THE HYDRAULIC
The hydraulic system is mounted on the motor OMM 32 (32) which is coupled to the structure by three screws M6. To get these screws off, first take out the cog-wheel (33) which drives the belt (34)
GREASING POINTS
Grease regularly the rollers (35) and the bushing of hauler axle (36) (Fig. 2).
