Snake-A-Way is a dry granular mixture which is easy to apply by lightly sprinkling around homes, cabins, trailers, garages, tents, pools, etc... to keep those areas snake free. It is great for use around gardens, but do not apply inside the garden area or in fields of crops grown for food. Do not use Snake-A-Way near streams, ponds or water supplies.
Snake-A-Way can be an effective deterrent for rattlesnakes and checkered garter snakes. While it may prove effective in repelling other types of snakes as well, it is not expected to consistently repel corn snakes and other rat snakes, and 'moccasin' snakes such as the cottonmouth and the copperhead species. The University of Florida at Gainesville reported that 83% of all snakes tested (especially rattlesnakes) showed high avoidance to the Snake-A-Way Snake Repellent.
Snake-A-Way has a time release agent that allows it to remain effective for 2 months under normal weather conditions. Normal rainfall will not harm the product. When the odor of Snake-A-Way becomes faint, its effectiveness may be diminished. If this occurs during a season when snakes are active, retreat with enough of the repellent to restore the original odor intensity.
Areas to Protect:
Homes, garages, trailers, barns, tents, stables, wood piles, tool sheds, flower beds, trash cans, playgrounds, lawns, kennels, anywhere snakes are or might be a danger to people, pets or property.
- Use as an area repellent to clear snakes from the area.
- Then apply as a perimeter barrier to keep snakes from returning.
- For garter snakes, one 4 lb. bag will protect approx.1/4 acre lot with home.
- For rattlesnakes, it will take 2 - 4 lb. bags for the same 1/4 acre lot.
- A time release agent keeps it working for up to 2 months under normal weather conditions.
- For OUTDOOR use only.
Application: If you are certain that an area is already snake free, using gloves, apply the Snake-A-Way in bands surrounding the areas to be protected. Use 5 to 6 inch bands for checkered garter snakes and a 10 to 12 inch band for rattlesnakes.
If snakes are present in the area to be protected, using gloves, lightly sprinkle the Snake-A-Way over the area and wait 48 hours to allow any snake in the area to escape (failure to do so may result in the product confining snakes in the area), then apply the Snake-A-Way in the previously described bands.
Using as directed, one 4 lb. container will protect approximately a quarter acre lot with home from checkered garter snakes. For rattlesnakes, it will take 2 - 4 lb. containers. One acre equivalents would be 4 - 4 lb. containers for checkered garter snakes and 8 - 4 lb. containers for rattlesnakes. Nixalite offers the Snake-A-Way in 4 and 28 lb. containers.
