Features & Benefits
Double-sided inspection
This free-fall laser sorter is available in various scan widths, up to 1800 mm. The products to be sorted are transported to the free-fall chute at high speed via the infeed shaker. This controlled, vibratory feed with optional sieve ensures that the products to be sorted are nicely distributed, allowing them to be analyzed more accurately and reducing the risk of false rejections. During their free-fall, the products are inspected by lasers, along one side, or along two opposite sides.
Multispectral laser detection
The VENTUS may be equipped with up to 16 lasers (and 32 laser detectors). Thanks to the combination of different lasers with specific wavelengths, the VENTUS is able to sort extremely accurately on the basis of color, shape, structure and biological characteristics. A brown shell fragment in between brown hazel nuts? Structure sorting extracts it without problems. Fluorescence lasers detect the chlorophyll content or the presence of harmful substances such as aflatoxin in nuts and dried fruits. SWIR (Short Wave Infrared) lasers see the difference between products containing water or dry products, ideal for finding foreign objects between vegetables and fruit.
By working with different specific wavelengths, you always have the full power of the specific light source available at the optimum wavelength. In the case of multi- or hyperspectral systems based on white (halogen or LED) light, on the other hand, the entire spectrum - and therefore also the power - is divided, so that you have less useful information. Because the VENTUS uses lasers with a higher output, the contrast between good and bad products is also much clearer, resulting in optimal defect detection and excellent good-to-bad ratio.
Superior resolution
Using an impressive laser scanning speed of up to 4000 scans per second, the VENTUS offers the highest resolution of all laser sorters on the market. It also easily detects the smallest impurities such as capstems in raisins, shell fragments in nuts and even glass splinters.
Multidimensional image processing
All different laser signals are processed simultaneously by our Multi Dimensional Laser System (MDL), resulting in a more accurate detection of foreign matter and product defects while having a lower risk of erroneous rejections, whereby the VENTUS outperforms other systems.
Precision ejection system
Defective products and foreign materials are removed from the flow of good products using compressed air. Using an optional second ejection mechanism, you may also apply three-way sorting in addition to two-way. In order to get an excellent good-to-bad ratio, even for the smallest products, the VENTUS may be equipped with a high-density reject system: ultra-fast and small air jets with a center-to-center distance of 4.6 mm.
Exceptional user-friendliness
Thanks to an intuitive GUI, operating the VENTUS is child's play. Your operators see all relevant information at a glance. In addition, they don’t have to work with graphs or formulae: they ‘teach' the machine which products have to be removed using images. The screen shows them an image with both acceptable and unacceptable products. On that image they select the 'good' products, the background and the 'bad' products, and thus are easily able to set up the sorting algorithm. Unacceptable products may be categorised in different classes, such as 'foreign material' including stones, glass and metal; ‘colour' for products with a deviating colour; or 'shape' for products whose shape does not meet the specifications.
The VENTUS is able to differentiate 8 Classes of deviations and process them as necessary.
Solid and reliable
The lasers are built into a hermetically sealed cabinet with nitrogen overpressure, which ensures operational reliability, stability and a long service life. Depending on the type and the wavelength, they have an average service life of 10,000 to 50,000 hours. The lasersystem of the VENTUS is also safe and is class 3R rated.
