The new Vertex Laser VL5  and L5 instruments offer STORING and PROCESSING capacity, distance measuring - from a FEW CENTIMETERS up to 700 METERS and longer, HIGH PRECISION results, reinforced and VERY RUGGED housing, improved and extended KEYPAD for convenient use and the possibility to order CUSTOM SETTINGS of your instrument depending on your preferred work area. The brand new VL5 Vertex Laser instrument is a technical innovation designed for all field measuring situations, weathers and terrains. This rugged and reliable device with the wellknown unique combination of ultrasound and laser technology, works for any height, distance and angle measuring you need to know.

The Vertex Laser is great in forest inventory work, with built in special functions and ability to measure in dense vegetation. The ultrasonic method is suited for measuring circular sample plots or reverse prism cruise with the built in basal area factors. With storing capacity and functions to calculate average stand height, the new VL5 will work even better for plot survey work.

The illuminated sighting cross improves sighting and spotting of individual trees and other objects. User friendly button overlay and integrated technology in a rugged, water protected and reinforced housing make the VL5 the premium choice for all professional users.

The VL5 has a built-in mounting point that simplifies use of a tripod when a steadier aim is required. It also has a built-in rechargeable battery that saves costs and causes less negative impact on the environment.

Different instrument configurations for various work operations ensure best possible efficiency. For tree inventory and sample plot measuring, the VL5 Vertex Laser with functions to calculate mean height in a stand will be great. For power line planning and control, the stripped L5 Laser version that goes straight to to measuring long distances with laser and quickly can tell whether a border tree risks to fall over a power line, is the instrument to use. On paper and pulp industries, you may need to measure timber stack volumes. On a clear cut area, you may want to calculate total area. The new VL5 and L5 instruments can be custom programmed for special measuring requirements to just the right configuration to make your work more efficient.

With the proven accuracy of the Haglöf Vertex ultrasound hypsometers and the advantages and speed of laser technology, this Vertex Laser VL5 multi-functioning instrument is the only device you will need for your height, distance and angle measuring work.

To measure in dense vegetation and rough undergrowth, use the ultrasound technology. When sighting is without obstacles and distances are long, Laser measuring is superior in speed and simplicity. Aim, press and get the results!

This pioneering technology makes field operation measuring work faster and more efficient than ever before, offering significant time- and cost savings, improving the result accuracy and increasing productivity.

Choose if to use IR or Bluetooth® to send the measured results to a computer caliper or other handheld for storage and further processing.

Laser

Laser technology is ideal for measuring long distances, up to 700 meters/yards!

The Vertex Laser is extremely useful for power line measuring work, where the power lines easily can be spotted and measured with the red crosshair sight. Line sags, borderline trees, heights, angles and distance – cover it all with the compact, user friendly Vertex Laser.

A filter function allows for flexible measuring, where you can select to measure the closest object, the farthest object or the object that submits the strongest signal.

Ultrasound

For shorter ranges, in dense forest and with difficulties to target, the Ultrasound method is perfect to use. Ultrasound works with the transponder T3 as reference point and always seeks the shortest way to the object. This is why foresters prefer Ultrasound in dense terrain - ultrasound really works!

For our customers in the utility industries and close-by operation areas, this instrument is also available in the L5 Laser model, that incorporates laser technology only. Special feature of Delta Height function enables determination of line sag - exactly what you need in the  utility industry!

Heights

Different height measurement methods can be selected depending on the environment or needs.

  • One Shot height
  • Three point
  • Two point with laser
  • Two point with reference point
  • Two point with ultrasound
  • Two point with fixed distance

Angle

In road construction or control in terrain how much it slopes. Measure the slope of the terrain and the Vertex Laser instrumentent presents Angle in Degrees, Grads and Precentage.

Plot radius

Once sample plot inventory is performed, it is important that the correct radius are used. This makes ultrasonic distance measurement to the best choice.

For shorter ranges, in dense forest and with difficulties to target, the Ultrasound method is perfect to use. Ultrasound works with the transponder T3 as reference point and always seeks the shortest way to the object. This is why foresters prefer Ultrasound in dense terrain - it works!

This saves you both time and trouble, and allows you to perform a quick and accurate measuring operation on multiple areas with one single instrument.

BAF - Basal area factors

The ultrasonic method is suited for measuring circular sample plots or reverse prism cruise with the built in basal area factors.

Working with factor gauge or prisms can sometimes offer difficulties when in the forest some trees cover others. Poor sighting can prevent a correct diameter measuring. With the Vertex Laser built in BAF function, the minimum tree diameter for trees to be included in the plot can be featured.

To use, measure the distance from the tree to the reference point, using the ultrasound method. The result will be minimum diameter a tree must have to be included in the plot, based on the pre-set BAF-factors.

Power line measuring

The Vertex Laser is extremely useful for power line measuring work, where the power lines easily can be spotted and measured with the magnifying sight. Line sags, borderline trees, heights, angles and distance – cover it all with the compact, user friendly Vertex Laser.

Hazard Trees Function

Identifying and measuring hazard trees alongside power lines, building sites, houses, roads and railways is an important task and made easy with the Hazard Trees function in the Vertex Laser VL5.

Delta Height Function

An incorporated Delta Height Function designed to measure line sag is also great for all types of control work along power lines - exactly what you need in the  utility industry!

Filter function

The VL5 is The Premium choice! The VL5 is extremely exact and measures distances from a few centimeters or inches to several hundreds of meters/yards with very high precision. A laser filter allows for flexible measuring, where you can select to measure the closest object, the farthest object or the object that submits the strongest signal.

Internal storing

With storing capacity of 2000 dataset the new VL5 will work even better for plot survey work.

Data processing capacity

With storing capacity the Vertex Laser can for example calculate average height in a stand.

Communication

Communicate with IR or Bluetooth. Transfer values to the Digitech, the Digitech Professional or the DP II computer calipers, or other handheald units with dataformat NMEA or ASCII formate.

Custom programmed

The new VL5 and L5 instruments can be custom programmed for special measuring requirements to just the right configuration to make your work more efficient.
