Agricultural Waste Service
There are two types of agricultural waste. One consists of excess fertilizer that filters down through the soil and contaminates groundwater. The other is a result of animal waste.
Chicken farms and hog farms produce large amounts of animal waste, which are believed to cause eutrophication in lakes, rivers, and estuaries. Even the Gulf of Mexico appears to have been adversely affected by nitrates draining into the Mississippi River.
Proper treatment of animal wastes requires both nitrification and denitrification steps.
EcoMat is currently pilot-testing our nitrification system. This employs the same EcoLink and reactor with a minor modification to automatically induce air injection into the reactor. This avoids the need for external air pumping.
