The reasons for an exploratory soil (popularly known as 'clean soil declaration') are to conduct vary widely. Almost always exploratory soil asked by the government to:
- the application for an environmental permit;
- an amendment to the zoning;
- a suspicion of soil contamination by, for example calamity.
This can be inconvenient, unnecessary, expensive and time-consuming experience. The downside of the story is that prevent research that one is going to live or dig in highly contaminated soil.
Note: in some municipalities, an exploratory soil (the actual conduct drilling) be omitted for new construction. Out to perform a 'historical research' according to the NEN 5725 must prove that the soil at the location concerned 'not suspicious' is.
Even when buying or selling is advisable in many cases to carry out an exploratory soil investigation. This applies especially for larger surfaces and locations where soil contamination can be expected. With proper research and adequate soil investigation prevents a seller later held liable for any soil contamination. And surprises are avoided, for example construction or excavation activities.
Note: sometimes has a location a long history and have already carried out various soil studies there. In that case, a thorough research with clear conclusions provide sufficient insight into the expected soil quality.
During a period of rental / lease land contamination can occur. By performing an exploratory soil examination prior to and after the end of this period (commitment zero and end state), it becomes clear whether this is actually the case.Finally, in the laying of cables and pipes required increasingly to provide advance data on soil quality. This prevents people from being accidentally exposed to contaminated soil.
DESIGN:
Exploratory soil survey indicated almost always consists of two parts, namely:
- Research: gathering information about the historical and current use based on the NEN 5725;
- Exploratory research: conducting field and laboratory based on the NEN 5740.
In general, the field consists in soil research from the provision of boreholes and hand (for groundwater research) of placing one or more wells. Furthermore, samples are examined in the laboratory. The numbers from one another and are referred to in the NEN 5740. These are heavily dependent on:
- the surface;
- it may or may not be present of the suspect locations. Think of an underground tank.
After laboratory analysis results are tested and determine whether further (further) investigation. The whole is finally processed into a clear report with clear conclusions and recommendations.
Note that a groundwater deeper than 5 meters below ground level can be omitted examination of groundwater.
PJ Milieu BV guarantees to the quality of the studies by working as Nen standards and protocols. The fieldwork is conducted by authorized people. The analyzes are performed by an accredited laboratory Accreditation Council.
Implementation of an exploratory soil investigation takes about 3 weeks. This period may be shortened by mutual agreement. Overall it is a soil survey to roughly 5 years after implementation still relevant / useful.
