Multiform Harvest Fertilizer

0

Multiform Harvest struvite is purer than commercially available phosphorus sources derived from rock phosphate – with heavy metals content far below federal regulatory limits, and no pathogens. Multiform Harvest fertilizer represents a renewable and sustainable source of phosphorus and nitrogen, which can be extracted by the Multiform Harvest technology as an exceptionally pure slow-release fertilizer. Phosphorus is an essential nutrient required for active growth and development of all plants. After decades of over-fertilization on agricultural lands, phosphorus has built up in soils and is considered one of the biggest contributors to nutrient pollution of streams and lakes. Inadequately treated wastewater from sewage treatment plants is also a major cause.

The Multiform Harvest technology has proven to be an effective and feasible approach to significantly reduce both phosphorus and nitrogen from the effluent of municipal wastewater treatment plants. Now, the recovered phosphorus compound (struvite) can effectively be used in agriculture as a slow-release fertilizer to increase nutrient use efficiencies and potentially reduce phosphorus fertilization for future decades.

Slow-Release

The Multiform Harvest struvite fertilizer provides a slow-release source of phosphorus, magnesium and nitrogen based on its low inherent water solubility; thus, the nutrients are gradually dissolved and available to the plant over an extended period of time.

This offers a unique opportunity in terms of placing the fertilizer directly in the root zone of the seedling plant and essentially “spoon-feeding” the roots with phosphorus, nitrogen and magnesium as the plant grows. This not only increases the efficiency of fertilizer use by the crop but also has the potential to reduce phosphorus application rates on certain crops compared to conventional phosphate fertilizers.
