PEFC Forestry Products Custody Chain
The custody chain for forestry products includes the monitoring of wood-based products through the different phases of transformation and sales processes, to ensure wood traceability, from the forest to the final consumer. Any company belonging to primary or secondary wood transformation sector, that wishes to demonstrate that its final products are made of wood that comes from forests with sustainable development, need a chain of custody certificate. The chain of custody for forest products is the following phase to the certification of sustainable forest management, and is necessary to verify that the wood forming part of any product comes from a forest, in which sustainable development practices have been carried out. Through the use of this mark, companies are promoting the sustainable development of the forests from which their products come.
