Staphylococcus Aureus


When present in foods, this organism produces a toxin attributable to food poisoning. The presence of this organism can indicate foodborne illness, or to indicate post processing contamination due to human contact or exposure to inadequately sanitized food processing surfaces. Food poisoning due to this organism has been found in cooked rice, meats & meat products such as hot dogs, salads such as chicken & potato, cream filled bakery & dairy products.
