First thing we do when we are assigned to make a feasible design and basic engineering for a project, is thorough research on site for setting a framework and parameters for execution of the conceptual design, master plan, feasibility study and basic engineering. When an Assessment of Possibilities has been executed, we already have a lot of information but for this phase we need more detailed information that was missed during the assessment. In this way we ensure that feasibility of design means that it fits your requirements and your financial abilities and is profitable in your location.
The feasibility of design deliverable consists of:
- A Conceptual design for greenhouses with installations suited for cultivation of the crop in the capacities required;
- A project master plan divided into building stages including the preliminary layout drawing for the first building stage;
- A definitive layout drawing for the first building stage that is frozen after review by the client;
- An inventory of work to be done and issues to be resolved with items sequenced in a timeline up to first stage commissioning;
- Itemised technical description of greenhouse and installations for the first building stage;
- A cost estimation for the first building stage based on technical description of greenhouse and installations (with a rough accuracy);
- A feasibility report, where conceptual design, expected yield, cost for hardware, labour, energy, water, lease of land, etc. come together in a cost price per unit produced.
The deliverable basic engineering of first building stage consists of (needed when above feasibility study validates a next step):
- Project description of facility with drawings (floor plan & cross-section), climate concept, technical equipment, etc;
- Basic technical specification of greenhouse, equipment and installations, included required capacities;
- Establishing the most cost effective energy concept, supported by a calculation;
- Drawings for application purposes under local regulations (for local applicant; usually a well informed architect or engineer);
- A cost estimation for the first building stage based on technical specification of greenhouse and installations (with a detailed accuracy).
- After this stage, the study can be expanded to a bankable business plan if requested. For the technical part, the next step is to start with detailed design to be able to make tender documents etcetera..
