The platform has been designed as a “smart” system able to improve agricultural production assembling information about climate, soil, crop, diseases and supporting farmers’ decision. It has been studied for supporting farmers and institutions in adopting low impact farming strategies in accordance with DIRECTIVE 2009/128/EC. That approach of “Integrated Farming” (IF) aims to deliver more sustainable agriculture particularly in regard to pest management. The innovative technologies adopted and the work team field expertise allow our group to fully respond to the needs expressed by the clients.

What crops and adversities the system supporting for?
Can the monitoring platform manage alerts?
Yes, it can. The procedures of alerts are based on the identification of threshold values which make up the quantitative risk probability indicator with range validity. The 'threshold' value is intended as the value of the monitored parameter, which, when reached sets off a specific level of alarm.
There are two distinct alarm types:
- Current meteorological events (late frost, strong winds, storms, etc.)
- Analyses of meteorological data (rainfall persistency, water balance, leaf wetness accumulation, etc.)
The first alarm allows users to monitor in real-time the progress of the considered variables. The second allows analysis of meteorological parameters (mean or accumulations) and verification weather conditions that satisfy multiple rules exist. In this case, it is possible to create a control system based on inter-linked parameters and create empirical models for phytosanitary protection from main pathogenic fungi and phytophagous insects as well as water demand monitoring.
When values or analyses drop below the pre-set threshold it is possible to highlight the exceeded threshold on the map, for both alert systems, and receive an alert via SMS or e-mail.
