Working in close collaboration with two of our partner companies in the industry, one a vaccine producer and the other a major processor in Britain, Eurofish have pioneered a unique training programme for their vaccinators incorporating classroom instruction and in-field training. In the theoretical component of the course, vaccinators are schooled in basic fish anatomy and biology, fish life-cycles and the principal working practices and systems of the Aquaculture Industry and how vaccination fits in to the process.
Instruction is also given in the different vaccines used, how they act to safeguard against the various dieases, and crucially, how they must be administered to the fish for minimum trauma and best results.
The practical component of the training course takes place on the job with new recruits working under close supervision of the most experienced team leaders for two to three weeks.
Before going to the field, trainees undergo a written exam to ensure they have grasped everything.
This programme is part of the company’s policy of investing heavily in staff development and promotion from within the company. Eurofish finance various training courses and certificates for their workers, for example we currently have 8 qualified first-aiders on our staff, all put through the course by Eurofish.
