20 Tips for 20 Years - How Buyers Can Get the Most out of XPRT
To celebrate XPRT’s 20th anniversary, we’re showing our appreciation to the buyers who have helped support us over the years with these 20 tips for getting the most out of XPRT. Straight from the people who know how to maneuver XPRT best, this is our 20th anniversary gift to you.
Tip #1: Use xprt.com for your searches
In early 2019, we launched a new marketplace at xprt.com that includes all the content you can find at our 3 industry-specific marketplaces (Environmental XPRT, Energy XPRT & Agriculture XPRT) in one place. Save time searching for suppliers!
Tip #2: Use location filters when searching
On the left sidebar of search result pages on any of XPRT’s marketplaces, you can filter your results by location:
You’ll also see an option at the top of all search result pages to show only results in your current location:
Make use of these features in order to focus only on suppliers that can deliver their products & services to the right place.
Tip #3: Doublecheck that your location is correct
When you create an account with XPRT, we automatically tag you with your current location. You can check this is correct by editing your user profile.
Tip #4: Refine your search by industry served
When searching by company, the left sidebar includes an Industries Served filter that allows you to view only those companies who serve your industry.
Tip #5: Search by brand name
This little known feature is useful if you know which brand you’re searching for.
Tip #6: Find your local office or distributor
When you land on any supplier storefront, click on the About section where you’ll find a View in map button that displays the supplier's office locations and distributors.
Tip #7: Research products that may be a good fit
XPRT currently hosts over 120,000 downloads and over 40,000 videos that help you research suppliers and their product offering before approaching them. You can also access this material on product and service pages.
Tip #8: Browse by topic
Click the Browse all channels option from the site header to explore topics covered within XPRT and see all the content covering each of those topics. It’s an easy way to explore the vast array of content available to help buyers like you.
Tip #9: Meet suppliers at events
All of our marketplaces also host event calendars. Check the About section of supplier storefronts to see if they’ve announced their attendance at upcoming events near you and send them a message to schedule an appointment.
Tip #10: Provide as many details as possible when sending requests to suppliers
Suppliers are most likely to reply to requests that provide details such as product quantities, deadlines, where the product should be delivered and a little bit about your project and company.
Tip #11: Add attachments to your requests
Got a standard request for quotation form? No problem. Simply find the Drop file here or browse box on any request form to attach it.
Tip #12: Don’t include your email address within the message body of your request
We currently do not allow you to add your email address to the message body of requests. That way suppliers will reply through the XPRT platform and we can know how frequently suppliers respond for quality control purposes.
Tip #13: Allow XPRT to match your request to similar suppliers
When sending requests to suppliers, tick the box that reads Yes, please send to similar suppliers and we’ll distribute your request to other suppliers who can help with your requirements.
Tip #14: Reach new suppliers with XPRT Sourcing
If you can’t find the right supplier or don’t have time, let us do the work by submitting your request to XPRT directly. We’ll match your request to the right suppliers.
Tip #15: Make sure messages@xprt.com is whitelisted
Replies from suppliers will arrive from this email address, so make sure messages from messages@xprt.com aren’t going to your spam box.
Tip #16: Close your requests
There is a green switch above all the requests you’ve sent that allows you to close the request and state the reason for closing, whether the outcome was positive or negative. You’ll also receive an email promoting you to do this three weeks after sending a request. Your feedback helps us make XPRT a better marketplace.
Tip #17: Subscribe to updates on topics of interest
When viewing products or services on XPRT, at the bottom right of your screen, you should see a box called Stay in the loop! Filling out this form subscribes you to customized newsletters that will keep you updated with the latest news, product launches, events, articles and more revolving around the topics of your choice.
Tip #18: Sign up for messages from suppliers of interest
Scroll down to the Notifications section of your user profile and check the option Email updates and special offers from select suppliers to receive messages direct from suppliers who match your interests.
Tip #19: Publish a review
Share your experience with other buyers by publishing your review of any of the products and services listed on XPRT. Simply scroll to the bottom of any product or service page and find the Customer reviews section.
