Hydroflux industrial Hy-DAF 100s removing fat for recovery from QLD abattoir - Case study

Working with Wiley, Hydroflux Industrial has completed the installation of a Hydroflux HyDAF HD100S dissolved air flotation system at Australian Country Choice in Cannon Hill, Brisbane.

The treatment plant was designed to treat the red stream from the processing plant. The treated wastewater is blended with the rest of the wastewater and treated aerobically. Due to the temperature of the red stream, a balance tank and heat exchangers were installed upstream of the dissolved air flotation system to cool the water to 36 degrees and maximise the fat removal process.

The DAF system is achieving over 90% removal of fats without the addition of any chemicals.

Heavy solids that settle in the base of the DAF are automatically discharged to the sludge tank and blended with the waste activated sludge from the secondary process.
