Latest Potato Field Trials Show Excellent Yield Results
We have seen some excellent results in our 2016 potato field trials. Trials undertaken by growers in Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire on four varieties: Markies, Maris Piper, Sagitta and Divaa have shown yield increases averaging 20% with the use of multi-nutrient phosphite PK MAXX+.
Increases in tuber size, uniformity and yield
Treated trial plots outperformed control plots on yield, tuber size and tuber uniformity, showing how a small investment to optimise nutrition can bring significant gains in marketable yield.
Inputs and costs
All treated plots were given two applications of PK MAXX+ at 2 litres per hectare. The first at early tuber bulking and the second 14-21 days later with a total additional product cost of less than £40 per hectare.
How it works
Every nutrient has the potential to limit yield so PK MAXX+ contains supplements of both NPK and key micronutrients such as Zinc, Copper, Boron, Iron and Molybdenum, to ensure optimum nutrient availability throughout the key growth stages.
Foliar application and advanced phosphite chemistry supply these nutrients more efficiently, keeping application rates and product costs low. In addition to this nutritional boost via the leaf, PK MAXX+ also increases the plant’s uptake of key nutrients such as Calcium and Manganese from the soil. This is achieved with the combination of phosphite and phosphate P increasing nutrient mobility and promoting the development of root systems.
Full trial results will be available at LAMMA 2017. You will find us in Hall 7 Stand 7109 opposite NFU Mutual.
