NPK compound fertilizer production line manufacturers talk about sulfur use methods
NPK compound fertilizer production line manufacturers often use sulfur to reduce soil pH value and improve saline alkali soil in agriculture. However, the use of sulfur as nutrient fertilizer in agricultural production has not attracted people's attention until recently.
Sulfur is an inert, insoluble yellow crystalline solid. Commercially, it can be stored in the open air, and it remains unchanged when humidity and temperature change. Sulfur will be oxidized to SO42 - by soil microorganism after being ground and mixed with soil. Compared with SO42 -, the effect of sulfur as sulfur fertilizer on crops depends on the particle size, application rate, application mode, sulfur oxidation performance of soil and environmental conditions. The finer the sulfur particles, the higher the sulfur oxidation rate. Generally, sulfur raw material must pass through 16 mesh sieve 100% and 100 mesh sieve 50%. The finer the sulfur particles are, the larger the surface area is, and the faster the conversion to SO42 - is. Because the surface area is inversely proportional to the particle diameter, the particle diameter decreases and the oxidation rate increases exponentially. In this way, the increase of sulfur surface area increases the SO42 - that can be absorbed by crops.
NPK compound fertilizer production line manufacturers can quickly oxidize sulfur into sulfuric acid when sulfur is ground and applied to soil, and its effect is equal to that of other sulfate fertilizers. The application time of sulfur fertilizer is very important. The soil should be applied as early as possible a few weeks before sowing and well mixed.
The method of sulfur fertilizer application will affect its oxidation rate, and the combination of sulfur fertilizer and soil is better than strip application. The results show that the uniform distribution of sulfur particles in soil has the following advantages: (1) the surface area of sulfur particles contacting with oxidizing microorganisms in soil is larger; ② Reduce the potential problems caused by too high acidity; ③ Make the water relation more ideal. If both sulfur and SO42 - are applied on the soil surface, the initial fertilizer effect of SO42 - is better, because SO42 - is water-soluble and will move to the crop root zone with the infiltration water, while sulfur needs to be oxidized to SO42 - first, which is not a fast process, especially when sulfur is applied on the soil surface. When using granular sulfur, granular sulfur fertilizer has a wet dry change and freezing thawing cycle on the soil surface, and then granular sulfur fertilizer can disperse. This is a process that must be experienced before sulfur is mixed with soil, and then sulfur can be converted into SO42 - which can be absorbed by crops. Except for perennial crops, it is generally not recommended to apply sulfur fertilizer on the surface, but should be applied before the growth and development of crops need sulfur.
