Boris Nets - Commercial Fishing Nets

The grassroots of Boris Nets. The design, innovation and attention to detail that goes into constructing a Boris Net have taken the company from strength to strength. With a history spanning over 60 years of working with many generations of fishing families, Boris Nets built a reputation for quality and excellence. We are busy adding products to this category. Please call with your inquiry. All trawls are still crafted by hand in our Fleetwood factory by our dedicated team with over 100 years collective experience. We now hold in stock a wide range of equipment including buoys, floats and netting along with wet gear and boots. A full range of polysteel rope and pot ropes are also available to serve the growing static gear fisheries. Large quantities of stock allow us to offer prompt delivery with overnight carriage available to many locations throughout the UK.

Boris Net - Aquaculture Nets

Boris Nets began supplying the Scottish Fish farming industry in 1984, and have continued to perform at the forefront of the aquaculture industry worldwide. Today our designs and products are in use at many locations by fish farmers, including Europe, Mexico, Africa and the Caribbean. Our cages are manufactured to the highest of standards using innovative designs, materials and technical information gathered throughout over 30 years of working hand in hand with our large customer base.

Boris Net - Sea Water Cages

For many species, including salmon, sea bass and sea bream. The cage nets are manufactured from nylon, polyester, Dyneema and HDPE, depending on customer requirements. The netting is usually hand mounted to UV-stabilised polysteel ropes of various diameters from 12mm up to 28mm, depending on cage size and environmental conditions. Hand mounting is used on heavy weather cage nets because there is much greater control of the ratio of rope to netting. All ropes are hand spliced, with either loops or rings on the top ropes. Hand holds, if required, can be fitted on all vertical ropes.

Boris Net - Freshwater Cages

For salmon and trout. As for sea cage nets, the cage nets are manufactured from nylon or Dyneema, depending on customer requirements. The netting is usually hand mounted to UV-stabilised polysteel ropes of various diameters from 12mm up to 18mm, depending on cage size and environmental conditions. Hand mounting is essential on Dyneema cage nets because there is much greater control of the ratio of rope to netting. All ropes are hand spliced, with either loops or rings on the top ropes. Hand holds, if required, can be fitted on all vertical ropes.

Boris Net - Anti-Predator Nets

Submerged Anti-Predator Nets for diving birds, seals, and other species mesh sizes include 45mm, 75mm, 100mm & 200mm.

Boris Net - Treatment Curtains & Bags

These are made from a high-quality semi-porous nylon or polyester material. Boris Nets can supply either curtains or enclosed bags.

Boris Net - Fish Farm Cage Nets

High-quality Nylon knotless netting is, in most cases, set on the square. This helps to prevent net distortion and allows a good water exchange. At modern fish farms, impacts on predatory sharks and marine mammals are being minimised with improved net technologies and removing dead fish from cages to prevent predation on cultured fish. Siting away from known aggregation sites and installing rigid predator exclusion nets effectively prevent adverse impacts on cultured fish, farm structures and marine predators.

Boris Net - Culture Systems

Ponds, raceways, recirculating systems, and cages are the four culture systems available for fish. A cage, sometimes known as a net pen, is a mechanism that restricts fish or shellfish in a mesh enclosure. The construction of a cage and a net pen differs by definition. A cage has a rigid frame (on all sides), but a net pen has a stiff frame at the top. The phrases “cage” and “net pen” are sometimes used interchangeably.
