Soft Red Winter Wheat
Blaze - Soft Red Winter Wheat
Blaze is a brand new variety that will definitely get the neighbours talking! A combination of strong agronomics is setting the bar above the tried and true throughout the province. Small seed size allows growers to save money by reduce seeding rates. Packing the FHB 1 trait, Blaze has superior FHB/DON tolerance, setting it apart from the others. Past issues with Stripe Rust? No problem, Blaze has strong tolerance to it as well!
C-M-Seed - Model CM 614 - Soft Red Winter Wheat
CM 614 has been a leader in Ontario for nearly 10 years. CM 614 typically prefers to challenge itself with placement onto clay soil types and outperforms all of its competition in that soil type. With strong tillering capability, CM 614 wins over tough soil conditions — a real workhorse variety.
Hard Red Winter Wheat
Adrianus - Hard Red Winter Wheat
Adrianus is an exciting new variety in the C&M Hard Red lineup. Adrianus poseses genetic heritage close to our current race-horse variety Priesley. This short variety exceeds expectations with great yield, functional quality, and protein scores. Adrianus has excellent tolerance to fusarium headblight and leaf diseases. Adrianus grows with a nice lush and thick vibrant canopy and shows a nice broad flag leaf. A real head turner throughout the countryside.
Gallus - Hard Red Winter Wheat
Gallus has been a proven performer and first very well on all soil types. The protein in Gallus is easy to achieve with a proper hard red strategy in place. It’s dark green colour and leaf over architecture make it visually appealing to anyone who sees it. Many growers like it for its proven consistent performance and excellent strip rust and fusarium tolerance.
Hard Red Spring Wheat
Easton - Hard Red Spring Wheat
Easton has proven to be another high yielding option. It features excellent tillering capability, but with lots tillering your risk of lodging is higher. Avoid situations where lodging may be a problem. Easton features excellent fusarium tolerance over previous high yield options. Easton has lead the way as the Top Yielder in the OCCC trials over the last 5 years before Raven was registered. It is also slightly later maturing, spreading out your heading and harvest risk. The tillering ability of Easton is like no other spring wheat. It can tiller like a winter wheat creating more yield opportunity.
Furano - Hard Red Spring Wheat
This variety has been performing extremely well in Eastern Ontario and should be considered among the top choices along with Easton. It is Tall (providing lots of straw), later maturing and has best in class fusarium tolerance. Best suited to area 3. Very good yields and protein can be expected from this variety. Furano is taller, but still stands very well considering its height. Protein is very strong with this variety as well. This variety is ideally suited for dairy farms in Eastern Ontario.
Hybrid Rye
Brasetto - Hybrid Rye
Brasetto is an absolute favourite for anyone who has grown it. Millers and distillers love it for its high functional profile and consistent milling characteristics. It will be one foot shorter than conventional rye and has great standability. Growers have reported Brasetto yields 1.3 to 2 times more than their conventional rye. Brasetto gets its yield from the tremendous fall tillering ability. It has great winter survival with very fast and vigorous spring growth. It will head out before winter wheat but harvests later than winter wheat.
Bono - Model KWS - Hybrid Rye
KWS Bono is another great hybrid rye option. Millers and distillers love it hybrid rye for its high functional profile and consistent milling characteristics. KWS Bono gets its yield from the tremendous fall tillering ability. It has great winter survival with very fast and vigorous spring growth. It will head out before winter wheat but harvests later than winter wheat. KWS Bono is slightly shorter than Brasetto and has shown equivalent yields to Brasetto in Ontario.
Soybeans

Growers can expect a taller soybean variety in the 2700 heat unit range. This variety stays green long, but finishes very quickly. Growers continue to be impressed by the yields in both Quebec and Ontario. Protein has traditionally been above 40% with this soybean.
Other Crops
Mercedes - Hybrid Winter Canola
MERCEDES is a newly registered conventional winter canola hybrid in the Ontario market. Compared to older winter canola varieties, MERCEDES early fall vigour combined with excellent winter hardiness make a great fir for Ontario producers looking for a high yielding winter canola variety. \Compared to spring Canola, winter Canola has a lower seed price, making it an attractive option for fall cover. MERCEDES early maturity creates opportunities for a double crop system, or an earlier wheat planting timing.
