Sunshine Yellow Euryops

Also known as a Bush Daisy, this semi-evergreen shrub-like perennial can be grown in containers, beds and even used as a hedge.  Performs best in Zones 7-10, but can be used as an annual in cold climates.   Enjoys partial to full sun and once established, can tolerate some drought conditions.  Will require more watering during times of extreme heat.  This variety of Euryops attracts pollinators, is considered deer resistant and can tolerate some salt air conditions.  Blooms nearly year-round in frost-free climates and deadheading encourages continuous flower production.  Sold here at Creekside Nursery in a 2 gallon TC pot.

Sago Palms

The sago palm is a popular house and garden plant known for its easy care and dark green, glossy and stiff feather-like foliage. The leaf stems have small protective barbs. While the name might imply that it is a palm, this plant is actually considered a cycad, one of the oldest groups of plants dating back to prehistoric times, explaining the plant’s hardiness.  The leaves develop from a rosette on a short shaggy trunk and fronds can be pruned off if a tree form is desired. This species thrives best in Zones 9-11 and makes a nice specimen plant for a garden bed.  Or they can be grown indoors or outdoors in large containers.  They prefer bright light and will not tolerate over-watering.

Desert Willow Bubba

This Chilopsis linearis cultivar has become very popular among landscapers and retailers due to its showy, fragrant, trumpet shaped clusters of deep pink flowers. The leaves are long, slender and soft textured. ‘Bubba’ is also a favorite because it typically does not produce seed pods. ‘Bubba’ has an airy and round growth habit and can be grown as a large bush or pruned into tree form. It is highly tolerant of heat and drought and is low maintenance. It is cold hardy in USDA zones 7-9 and has been known to tolerate temperatures as low as five degrees Fahrenheit.

Holly Fern

The Holly Fern is an erect variety with very showy fronds displaying glossy holly-shaped leaves. This shade loving fern is perfect for mass plantings, beautiful as a potted specimen by itself or with other shade-loving plants. Sturdier than most other fern varieties, it stands up to coastal breezes without tattering and can survive well within a salt air environment.  The Holly Fern is deer and rabbit resistant, pet-friendly and it has no spiny points like a true holly.  Does best in Zones 9-11 and is considered as evergreen in areas with mild winter climates.  Can reach a height of 2-3 feet with up to a 2-foot width.
