DCC Waterbeds ISO®, with two independent chambers, have been providing comfort to cows around the world since 2013. An upgrade to the third generation ISO design is providing extra comfort (XC) by expanding the water chambers. This will offer even more comfort area for the cow`s knees and her body, with the ultimate in cow comfort, consistency, cushion, and support. DCC Waterbeds float the hocks, knees, and udder. They are a proven, comfortable alternative to deep- bedded sand or solids. The DCC Waterbeds XC design offers even more comfort for the cow when she’s in the lying position by expanding the water flotation surface area of the bed.

In 2013, we introduced DCC Waterbeds ISO, the 3rd-generation waterbed, and our most comfortable bedding solution yet. The front and rear chambers of the ISO are filled separately. The front pillow provides a consistent cushion for the knees. The rear pillow floats the hocks and udder with more consistency. With a fixed volume of water, DCC Waterbeds ISO support the cow’s body weight through hydraulic pressure, mirroring the cow and floating her pressure points.

In 1999 our CEO, Dean Throndsen, brought single chamber waterbeds for cows from Europe to the North American dairy industry. Throndsen recognized the opportunity to improve upon the single chamber bed design to have a significant impact for dairy cow comfort. In 2003,  Dean patented the Dual Chamber Cow Waterbed in 2003, the 2nd generation bed we call DCC Waterbeds Original. With DCC Waterbeds Original, the two chambers, one for the knees and one for the body, are divided by a baffle to provide consistent, stable comfort while two small channels allow water to slowly pass between the chambers. In 2013, we introduced the ISO design. The Original design is not longer in stock in our Wisconsin warehouse. Full roll quantities of the Original design can be special ordered. A long-lasting, low-maintenance bedding solution is ideal for raising young stock. DCC Waterbeds junior are our Original-style beds available in smaller sizes for heifers. By installing DCC Waterbeds junior in a heifer facility, the transition to the milking herd is less stressful for young stock.

For special applications, DCC Waterbeds XL are square, four-chamber beds made in the ISO design. XL beds can be placed in box or open stalls. When anchored down, DCC Waterbeds XL are supportive, comfortable, and give large animals more space and freedom of choice.

For farmers who want the reliable comfort of a cow waterbed plus a layer of foam, we’re proud to introduce ACT COMFORT WAVE. We introduced cow waterbeds to North America in 1999.  It was a single-chamber designed waterbed.  We learned early on that a single chamber of water does not work for cows.  The water does not stay beneath the cow where she needs it, resulting in her pressure points bottoming out.
