Ecorain USA – Subsurface Irrigation Technology applications

Greens on rooftops can be a beautiful addition for visitors and residents in areas that have limited access to parks. Rooftop applications using sprinkler systems store excessive water making them unnecessarily heavy due to the high amount of soil requirement. With the iMat a freely draining lightweight planting media is used instead. The capillarity of this media is highly reduced, compared to topsoil. This results in rooftops having the ability to collect rainwater and use it for irrigation, as opposed to moving into a drainage layer that leads to waste.

Sculpted greenery is an important design element in landscape architecture but was proven difficult to irrigate in the past. Our subsurface irrigation mat (iMat) prevents overwatering, which can cause water damage on curbsides, streets and walls, and especially in very small, angled spaces. Public parks and greens can be maximized for enjoyment by making sure there no exposure to topically applied pesticides and fertilizer, avoiding the risk of health hazards for animals and children.

Maintaining large fields typically used for sporting events can be an expensive and laborious process. The iMat allows for easier maintenance in the areas of aeration and fertilization.

Vertical greens are an important design element in landscape architecture and interior design. They often allow for a unique addition that is both visually appealing and sometimes also necessary. These spaces are harder to maintain and erosion is typically a problem.
