A robust plastic sheet of polyethylene or polypropylene (1 to 2 mm) is ideal to guide the roots in the right direction. Correctly placing a PE root barrier prevents damage by root growth to sewers and paving. PE irrigation edges are placed to stimulate the growth of young plants. Irrigation edges are delivered on a roll. They can also be made of biodegradable materials.
