Biochar is a solid material obtained from thermochemical conversion of carbon based biomass in an oxygen-limited environment. It is a pure form of charcoal and because of its porous structure and carbon content it has a myriad of uses and benefits.

In conjunction with Coastal Raintree Consulting, of Gibsons BC, EWS has developed a line of Grow Medium Blends with an Emergent Biochar foundation. Specifically, a Cannabis Blend, a Germination Blend and a Potting (General Purpose) Blend. Doctors David Galvez and Anayansi Cohen-Fernández, plant and soil scientists, combined their expertise to create an optimal bend for each application.
