Plate coolers are very efficient at taking heat out of milk and play an important role in ensuring milk is cooled quickly for storage. Using mains or ice water they reduce the demand for electrical energy and are extremely cost effective. Current estimates show that an extra 1°C reduction could save you up to £500 a year with the right plate cooler (based on 3 million litres production at 35p/kWh).

Tubular pre-coolers are particularly well suited to robotic milking systems. The milk is only in contact with the stainless steel tube within SPIRA-KOOL and cleaning takes place together with the robot milkline.
