The Darwin S is a mechanical thinning unit without a support/mounting. It is our flexible thinning unit and can be mounted in different ways. It is used on already existing machines in the vehicle fleet, e.g. a cutting machine, a telescopic loader or a hydraulic arm. The Darwin S is mounted with the spindle in the direction of travel. The rotor carrier has a slight angle to the right towards the trees. Due to its design, the machine is always mounted with the spindle in the direction of travel, so a better view of the spindle is ensured and thus you can guide more easily the spindle on / in the tree crown / mold.

The DarwinPT was designed to work mainly in V-systems as we often find in peaches, plums and apricots. It is attached to a front loader directly or by forks. The spindle has a tilt angle of 180 °. This allows the DarwinPT to be lifted to the height of the tree tops and work horizontally over the trees. Should the open vase trees be very wide, there is also the possibility of tilting the spindle into the tree interior and thin there. The high tilt angle ensures that the sides as well as the crowns of the tree can be thinned.

The regulation of the amount of fruit on a plant or tree, that is blossom and/or crop thinning, is one of the most important measures used in intensive commercial fruit growing for achieving the required fruit size and quality in marketing. The greatest challenge for mechanical blossom thinning is the evaluation of the degree of thinning and the optimum adjustment of the spindle speed.

With this model the hydraulic functions against the Edward comfort were reduced to a minimum, but the quality and cutting performance were maintained.
