Fish Farming In Cages
Today cage culture is receiving more attention by both researchers and commercial producers. Factors such as increasing consumption of fish, some declining wild fish stocks, and a poor farm economy have produced a strong interest in fish production in cages. Many small or limited resource farmers are looking for alternatives to traditional agricultural crops. Aquaculture appears to be a rapidly expanding industry and one that may offer opportunities even on a small scale. Cage culture also offers the farmer a chance to utilize existing water resources, which in most cases have only limited use for other purposes.
Irrigation Ditch/Pond System
The major reason to build a pond is for irrigation as an irrigation pond is a manmade pond specially made to store and distributes the water for agricultural purposes. MSD aquaculture uses irrigation ditches or pond systems to raise fish. We have a ditch or pond that retains water, with an above-ground irrigation system including buried pipes with headers. By using this method, water allotments can be stored in ponds. In small systems, the fish are often fed food, and their waste products can help fertilize the fields.
Classic Fry Farming System
Classic fry farming is also called a "Flow-through system." Normally, the fry is raised in well build tanks, fed with fresh stream water and receive commercial fish food in pellets. Trout and other sport fish are often raised from eggs to fry. This method has been used for many years to stock streams with sport fish. Many cultured fishes such as catfish, tilapia, carp, many others) require no meat or fish products. This type of method is well-known for fish farming.
Composite Fish Culture System
Composite fish culture is the process to raise different species of fish in the same fish pond. This ensures the complete utilization of food resources in the pond. This system is also called mixed fish farming. It is the most popular cultural technique in the country. Utilize all available resources and increase the total production from unit area both are the major objective of Composite fish culture. This technology also helps to get maximum fish production from a pond through the utilization of available fish food organisms and supplemented by artificial feeding.
