When transplanting delicate tissue cultures, protection of roots and callus is critical. Balancing this with speed and efficiency can be tricky and stressful. With this in mind, Grow-Tech created the ZenPlug for tissue culture starts. An open plug shape allows for the precise and rapid placement of large callused plants such as orchids and trees in the center of the plug. With a single hand motion, the ZenPlug easily folds around fragile roots. The s-shaped interior holds the roots firmly but gently in place and gives young plants the optimal environment for root growth. The CatEyePlug for easy transplanting of tissue culture starts and pre-rooted cuttings. The “eye” of the plug allows for the precise and rapid placement of small and delicate plant material, such as tissue culture, micro cuttings and other hard to start plants. The plug’s unique eye-shaped dibble makes it possible to open the plug with one hand. Once squeezed, the CatEyePlug opens and creates the perfect spot for the placement of your young plant. When you let go of the plug, it closes and holds the tissue culture plant perfectly in position.

The Aero was designed for the production of young plants for rooting stations in Europe. The product was introduced into the Canadian market about 7 years ago and has been a developing success ever since. The possibility of watering the plants often, in combination with a fast dry down of the plug, creates the ideal circumstances to steer the growth of the plant, while the roots of the plants are never too wet. The dibble hole of the plug is filled with fine, soft peat which ensures optimal contact of the cutting with the plug. The Aero: fast development of callus, optimal root growth, great root architecture and less problems with mold.

FlexiMix is a peat based potting soil that is manufactured in a process similar to Grow-Tech’s FlexiPlugs. The resulting rooting sponge is then shredded into a granular material. FlexiMix has high air filled porosity and a uniquely high water holding capacity. This means not only greater water retention (and thus less watering by you) but an aggregate structure that will not allow over watering. FlexiMix also contains a blend of organic substrates, micronutrients and active biologicals that will ensure your young plants thrive.
