By-Product Processing
Serving abattoirs, butchers` shops, food manufacturers and supermarkets, PDM processes over one million tonnes of animal by-products each year. With five rendering plants located across the country, PDM is the only company able to handle all different categories (1, 2 and 3) of ABP and process into a range of different products, be it as diverse as energy or pet food ingredients. PDM`s nationwide collection service means it covers every high street in the UK and already visits over 10,000 individual customer sites each week. With a strong focus on research and development, PDM`s plants have benefited from continuous investment in new technology and environmental control systems to ensure that product quality, safety and emissions standards are consistently second-to-none and comply with all relevant legislation and operating permits.
Pet Food Ingredients
PDM is one of the largest suppliers of protein ingredients to the European pet food sector. Using category 3 ABP - material from healthy animals that would be fit for human consumption, but are not consumed for reasons of culture and customer choice - PDM produces chilled, frozen and dried ingredients from the meat and poultry sectors. PDM operates two main pet food plants in the UK. Its Nottingham plant produces a range of dried poultry materials, while the plant in Doncaster specialises in chilled and frozen products and is the most advanced preparation facility of its kind in Europe.
