Vegetation Reflectance

Skye - Portable Spectrosense Systems

Features: A portable system ideal for Ground Truth Validation Campaigns. Automatic calculation of different vegetation indices, eg NDVI, PRI, LAI, etc. Results can be viewed on the display, stored and/or logged. Choice of sensors types depending on application. Standard NDVI & PRI wavelengths or your choice. Wavelengths can be matched to one of the Earth Orbiting Satellites, eg MODIS. Sensors are individually calibrated and supplied with a calibration certificate. Calibration is traceable to the UK’s national standard, NPL. GPS location stored with sensor readings

Plant Moisture Systems

Skye - Analogue Plant Moisture System

Low cost system using a dial gauge readout of pressure. Safety pattern gauges. Many other safety features – solid brass chamber, screw thread closure, clear perspex shield and eye protection. Choice of chamber heads for fleshy and/or woody samples. 3 models for 0-40 bar, 0-50 bar and 0-80 bar maximum working pressure.

Light Measurement - Single Channel

PAR Sensors

These sensors are traditionally used in plant growth studies.  We can offer waterproof models suitable for long term exposure and underwater applications, and splashproof models of the PAR Quantum & PAR Energy suitable for glasshouses, plant growth cabinets, etc. The PAR Quantum is the sensor with the ideal 100% quantum efficiency curve and is traditionally used in plant growth studies. The spectral response has been well researched and documented and is widely accepted as ‘the standard’. The PAR Quantum has an output in micromols.m-2.s-1 and the PAR Energy in watts.m-2. The PAR ‘Special’ has a response which has been tailored to match the light used by a typical green plant and gives an output in micromols.m-2.s-1.

PAR Line Quantum Sensor

Photosynthetically Active Radiation or PAR light lies in the range 400-700nm and is the part of the sun’s spectrum used by plants for photosynthesis. The PAR line quantum sensor consists of 33 individual sensors evenly spaced along an 850mm length. The design and diffusing cover ensures the average of PAR light falling along the whole length is measured. Measuring light profiles with a single sensor under canopies or in growth rooms can introduce errors, as the light is usually not constant or not uniform over the whole area. The Skye PAR line quantum sensor instantaneously measures an average of the light falling on its entire length, hence minimising these errors. The line sensor is often used together with a standard Skye PAR quantum sensor which measures the incident PAR light falling on the plant surface, whilst the line quantum sensor is usually placed within or beneath the plant canopy.
