SX Series
SmithCo - Model SX1 - Single Axle Side Dump Trailer
SmithCo’s SX1 Single Axle side dump trailer is primarily used in situations when maneuverability is an issue, or as a second trailer in a doubles operation. The SX1 has many length options, with the SX1-2317 and SX1-2620 being the most popular selections. When used in a doubles operation, the converter dolly can be attached with either a fifth wheel or roller turntable connection.
SmithCo - Model SX2 - Tandem Axle Side Dump Trailer
SmithCo’s SX2 Tandem Axle side dump trailer is one of our most popular and versatile models. The SX2-4034 is the most commonly produced size for tandem axle units, and with a 204″ wheelbase tractor it can achieve 80,000 legal gross in all states under the Federal Bridge Formula. Shorter tandem axles trailers are produced to handle maneuvering issues, or combined with converter dollies for doubles operations. Common models for these shorter tandem axle trailers are the SX2-3024 and SX2-3327.
SmithCo - Model SX3 - Three Axis Side Dump Trailer
SmithCo’s SX3 Three Axle side dump is a popular choice in states allowing extended gross weights for truck/trailer combinations with more than five axles. The SX3-4234 and SX3-4636 are the most common three axle trailer sizes but lengths run from SX3-3734 to SX3-5036. Shorter to mid-length trailers tend to be used for everyday construction jobs, while the longer three axle trailers are frequently used for line-haul applications.
SmithCo - Model SX4 - Four Axis Side Dump Trailer
SmithCo’s SX4 Four Axle side dump trailer is primarily used in states that allow extended weights and is usually part of a line-haul application. The SX4-4936 is the most popular length for a four axle trailer. Lift axles and steerable axles are common options to add on this series.
SmithCo - Model SX5 - Five Axis Side Dump Trailer
SmithCo’s SX5 Five Axle side dump trailer is similar to the four axle model, but features a liftable/steerable axle added behind the landing leg area. The location of this axle helps equalize the weight between the truck axles and the rear trailer axle group. The SX5 side dump trailer works well in most states that have a cap gross weight allowed of up to 108,500 lbs.
