Spinder - Optimal Stall for Cows

Eating
Cows must eat a large amount (an unlimited amount) of roughage to produce a large amount of milk. That is the reason why cows may walk to the roughage around ten times a day and spend some 6 hours at the feed front for an intake of 30 to 50 kilograms. This may vary, depending on the production purpose, the quality of the roughage and the feeding system. So, it happens at the feed front: access to the roughage. The feeding place width to match the modern cow has grown to 70 cm, sometimes as much as 75 cm per stall. The cow should not experience pressure spots or sharp parts, and ear tags may not be ripped out.

Drinking
A cow drinks large amounts of water; after all, about 88% of milk is water, while manure also consists largely of water. 120 litres of water a day is a reasonable average. A cow also drinks quickly; all those litres go down in less than no time. The animals are particularly thirsty immediately after milking. This means that sufficient water must be available in the barn, with a fast supply of fresh water. Preferably 40 litres of water per minute! Proper water supply can be provided with drinking troughs Classic or Pingo and/or valve trough drinker (individual drinking troughs). A bulk drinking trough is most suitable for providing many cows with clean drinking water in a short period of time. Rule of thumb is 7 cm of bulk drinking trough length per cow and 20 animals per quick drinker.

Pingo - Drinking Troughs
In order to produce a lot of milk, a cow must also have easy access to water and be able to drink plenty of it. This makes a Pingo drinking trough the perfect choice.
