In recent years, these peat blocks have succeeded in replacing peat moss in commercial and domestic gardens and in green houses, where they are known to induce early germination of seeds by breaking seed dormancy in almost all flowering plants and vegetable crops. A Proven substitute peat moss, rock wool or perlite, the coco peat discs not only outperform most peat brands, but also reduces peat extraction from many environmentally sensitive swamps in various parts of the world. The discs are extremely practical and absorb 4-5 liters of water, which is nearly 8 times their weight and are highly porous, allowing strong root development. Besides allowing the roots to retain its moisture and reducing over exposure to sunlight, the discs also help to ward off growth of weeds at the plant foot.
