The Climate Trust works with forest owners to design carbon projects that improve their management flexibility and climate resiliency.

Common forest management practices seek to maximize financial value from forests through timber harvesting, which results in reduced forest carbon storage.

By making a long-term commitment to reduced levels of timber harvesting, landowners can store more carbon in forest biomass as compared to common practice management. Timber harvests are still allowed but commitments to management practices like extended rotations, green tree retention, and increased riparian buffers are often employed.

The Climate Trust supports working ranches and rural communities as the country’s only source of carbon funding for grassland conservation.
