Triton - Nutrition Algae
Triton has unlocked the commercial potential of the world’s most closely-studied algae, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. Triton has developed a scalable and sustainable methodology by which to produce this highly nutritious algae, and has achieved FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status for use of this algae as an ingredient in foods. Further, Triton has developed strains of its algae that are rich in beta-carotene (yellow in color) and others that our rich in heme (red in color), using non-GMO processes for both.
Triton - Colostrum Proteins
This same GRAS algae is also a demonstrated and proprietary expression platform for the safe production of multiple colostrum proteins, which are essential nutritional compounds that occur naturally in the breast milk of all mammals. As it currently is sold, infant formula is lacking many of these proteins, which are known to improve infant health, cognition and growth. Triton has developed a process to produce these highly sought after proteins, such as osteopontin, which is currently Triton`s lead product in development.
Triton - Synthetic Biology
Triton has developed patent protected synthetic biology tools that enable the production of recombinant proteins in fermentation conditions. Traditional Chlamydomonas synthetic biology tools require light to stimulate high levels of recombinant protein accumulation. Triton has successfully decoupled the process of recombinant protein expression from light and effectively allowed C. reinhardtii to accumulate protein during high density fermentation processes.
